JP Morgan launching new frontier markets index

JPMorgan is expected to launch a frontier market local-currency government ​bond index in September.


The new index, called GBI-EM Edge, will cover the bonds of 26 countries with the largest weightings going to Egypt, Vietnam, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nigeria and Sri Lanka. African countries will make up 45% ⁠of the index, with Asia contributing around 30%. It is expected to include bonds of at least $250 million with at least 2.5 years left to maturity.
