L&G to invest $1bn in EM debt for nature swaps
Legal & General is to invest $1 billion in 'debt for nature' swaps in emerging markets, designed to reduce interest payments and support conservation in developing countries. JP Morgan plans local currency frontier markets index
JPMorgan is planning to launch a new index that will track local currency bonds from frontier markets. The index comes 15 after after the bank launch EXGEM, its hard currency frontier index. It is believed that the index will include up to 25 countries, with the largest weightings going to Egypt, Vietnam, Kenya, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and the index is expected to only include bonds of a value of $250 million or greater. Colombia issues three global bonds worth US$5 billion
Colombia has issued three dollar bonds totalling US$4.95 billion, the largest foreign debt issuance in its history with orders reaching US$23.2 billion. The three bonds issued will mature in 2029, 2031, and 2033 with the largest (2029) in an amount of US$2bn with a coupon rate of 5.37%. Franklin Templeton has launched the Templeton Emerging Markets Debt ETF (TEMD). Ecuador is looking to return to international debt markets for the first time since 2019.
