Corporate & sovereign EM debt issuance reaches record high

Total issuance of corporate and sovereign bonds in 17 emerging markets reached a record high of $286 billion year to date in September, according to S&P Global. This exceeds the previous high reached in 2021. S&P says a weaker US dollar and lower inflation has helped boost issuance. The 17 countries covered are: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam.
